WATCH NOW↓ Being a Bravo Housewife is a full-contact sport. You are paid to scream across restaurant tables, litigate ancient family grudges, and fight for your television life at annual reunions. If you stop playing the game, you stop existing. Kathy Wakile knows exactly when she stopped playing.
Looking back at her final days on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Wakile admits she deliberately stopped participating in the drama long before her actual exit. She was still on camera, but she had functionally quiet-quit the franchise.
You could see I mean if you look back and you see you know there was parts there where I was present but I really wasn’t present like my body was there but I wasn’t contributing to the scenes. Even at the reunions I was very quiet like people would say why are you so quiet. I just wasn’t playing anymore I really was checked out.
Wakile’s tenure on the show was defined by impossible family dynamics. She entered during the infamous season three christening brawl, immediately catching the crossfire of the eternal blood feud between Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga. For years, she played the exhausted peacemaker. By the time her final season rolled around, she simply stopped supplying the network with usable conflict.
No regrets, no return
Today, Wakile’s life is aggressively normal. She runs a local restaurant called Pizza Love, teaches culinary classes in Memphis, and spends her time hanging out with former castmates Caroline Manzo and Jacqueline Laurita. As for Giudice and Gorga, Wakile says she has not spoken to either of them in quite a long time.
Fans perennially fantasy-cast former housewives to return and save struggling franchises. Wakile is taking her name entirely out of the hat. She says the current iteration of the show is unrecognizable to her, heavily focused on fabricated dramatics rather than actual family life.
I don’t think that I’d go back on the show it’s not something that is even on my radar right now. I don’t identify with the whole time anymore… in the way that this show has progressed that’s really not how I live my life.
She has moved on completely. If you are waiting for a Wakile comeback to heal the fractured New Jersey cast, you are out of luck. She has disconnected from the Bravo machine so thoroughly that she no longer even casually monitors the chaos she left behind.
I don’t even know the night that it’s on unfortunately but no I don’t really watch. We do mostly a lot of streaming and we watch series and you know I like of course I love to watch Food Network.
